i think if you do the "my indie game + three inspirations" and i can guess what the game is just from the inspirations, you've lost my interest

Harvest Moon + Stardew Valley + Terraria: cool, maybe i'm interested if you do something novel

Harvest Moon + Age of Empires + Dodonpachi: Baffling. Enthralling. Tell me everything about this because i can't even imagine what the fuck you're talking about

I hate that my brain is straight up working out how that combo would work.

It's a Harvest Moon-esque farming sim except set in a fantasy world during a major war between multiple uber powerful wizards. You are a retired adventurer who spent years gathering seeds of powerful dungeon plants that have magical properties, including Dragon Teeth seeds that let you grow soldiers.

You are now playing a farming to literally grow your army and defend your hometown from getting destroyed in this war, but due to the sheer power of the wizards leading the other army it's no easy feat. If you just send your army, they'll be obliterated.

Fortunately you found and refurbished a magical mechanical flying golem from a bygone age. When it's time to attack you must fly through the endless barrage of spells and summons the wizards throw your way until you crash into their tower, breaching their defenses and unleashing your army into their base for a more classic RTS combat.

Also, while doing this, you have a selection of cute people of various genders to romance and still have to grow normal crops to feed your people because that's how you are surviving this seige.

It would be a goddamn mess. I want someone to make it.

Namely, it must be something that:

  • has a popular association with being difficult/challenging (which MAY be played up to some degree)
  • despite the air of difficulty, it is still held in high regards by most people
  • is extremely influential
  • the jank is part of the appeal
  • has some aspect that feels comprable to a poison swamp. Make of that what you will

Me: “okay here’s my controversial answer: 69”
My partner: “I get where you’re coming from, but I think 69ing is the Dark Souls II of sex”

Hear me out:

In addition to the above, it’s controversial in the community because some swear it’s the best thing ever while others maintain its incredibly overrated and just not worth the effort.
